Holiday marketing can be overwhelming and stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! As it is not only the holiday season, but also the end of the year, you want to make sure your customers will continue to support your business through the new year.

We know January can be bland, so why not start the year off exciting with some new promotions and ideas.

Here are some tips for your business’ social media marketing over the holiday season:

Create Holiday Goals Early

Start early, think about the year your business had, and what you wish to achieve next year. The SMART goal structure is a very helpful way to breakdown what you are looking for.

SMART goals are:

Specific- What will be accomplished, and what actions will you take?

Measurable- What data will measure the goal?

Achievable- Is the goal doable, and do you have the specific resources?

Relevant- Does it align with your business? Why is the result important.

Time-bound-  Is the goal achievable in an allotted time?

SMART goals can put you and your business on the right track to be successful by evaluating your goals and making sure they fits the criteria.

Be Present Online

Be present on social media platforms (including Google). More and more customers are shopping and searching for businesses online. Make sure you are answering your messages, responding to comments, and engaging with your customers. If customers reach out to you and do not receive a response, it is likely they will move on and reach out to a competitor. One way to make sure your business is responsive (even when you are closed) is to create automatic replies. This will assure your customer that there is someone who will get back to them.

Content is KING!

There is a lot of competition out there. Good quality, and unique content for your businesses online is key. Try new approaches such as videos. Reels, Shorts, and TikTok videos are very popular on the social media. They tend to receive more engagement then other media. Keep your videos short, and make sure to hook your audience. This will make a lasting impression on a potential customer.

Show Who You Are

Speaking about content…customers appreciate knowing who is behind your business, and its culture. Your audience wants to see your passion, and understand what made you start your business. Some examples are ‘day in the life’ posts, work culture, and documenting what you do. Why not also share what your business is doing during the holidays? As much as people want to know about your product and services, they don’t want you to constantly try to sell something. People search for brands that they can connect with.

Mix Up Your Marketing

Customers are always looking for fresh ideas, experiences, and products. To keep up with brand awareness, create fresh CTA’s (call to actions) that make your audience want learn more about what your business does. A call to action prompts your audience to make the next move. This could be as simple as adding a button to your post. For example, a ‘Learn More’ button will bring your audience to a landing page that will tell them more about your holiday offerings, turning them into potential customers. A “Message Us” button will encourage them to reach out to you directly.

Acknowledge How Far You’ve Come

As the holidays dwindle, take time to relax and reminisce on your accomplishments, you have worked so hard! There are many people looking to support and shop local. This is a good opportunity to embrace it, and be creative with marketing your business.
